Tuesday 14th May.

« on: May 12, 2019, 06:49:26 PM »
A few of us are contemplating a gentle run out on Tuesday next week if anyone is free to join us.
It won't be anything too strenuous probably all within a 50 mile radius from Morecambe.

Meeting at mine 10am. Outward to Grassington, brew at Kettlewell. Then Buckden, Gayle, Hawes and then return via Horton in Ribblesdale, Helwith Bridge and Austwick.
Lunch at Goat gap cafe before splitting to head home. (home of the GIANT sausage roll, we are talking 20kg of filling to make one) We should all be able to be home by 2.30pm.

That sounds great to me George.

I've tried the giant sausage roll at the Goat Gap cafe, it was bloody good!

See you at yours at 10am tomorrow ☺

By 50mile radius I take this doesn't include the wet part? :)

It doesn't but should you feel the need to "dip" your headlights, please feel free to use the River Wharf instead of the Irish sea.....

Looks like there may be five of us Tuesday. I've booked the weather.

Working Im afraid ( plus the bike is still at the garage waiting for the brakes to be rebuilt) Hence my quietness of late.

Ive been assured it will be back this week!

Certainly no sign of rain today. 20c+ throughout our little ride.
Our timing proved very fortuitous, as we rode from Buckden dropping over the moor top towards Gayle, I spotted two shadows moving across the grassland about two miles distant.
I just had sufficient time to stop the bike and whip the phone out of my pocket to grab a photograph of the second of two Chinook helicopters that were tracking up the valley below our view point.
Our next good timing provided a viewing of a steam locomotive drawn passenger train crossing Ribblehead viaduct.

A nice morning ride through some beautiful countryside. About 85 miles round trip from my front door.
I then spent thirty minutes washing mine and my sons bikes clear of all the airborne bugs the machines had accumulated.
Thank you FPM and Tricky for your company today. I look forward to a future ride out.
I am booked to attend Fuel Exhausts at Kendal on the 24th of this month. They are going to use my GS850 as a mule to fabricate an exhaust system.
If anyone fancies an early morning ride across there, a guided look at their operation and a walk into Kendal for brunch, you are most welcome to join me for a run out.

A good day out, some great roads, that I haven't ridden before. Good food at the Goat Gap cafe, and good company.

That drone footage is pretty cool too!

I also had to give my bike a clean when I get home.
