Winter is fast approaching

« on: October 01, 2018, 08:44:00 PM »
Well it is isn't it  :-[.

So are you prepping your bike for hibernation and ordered your SAD medication or do you take winter in your stride and ride all year  :)

I have a question... Have you ever been on a motorcycle winter getaway for a few days or

Is the bike is for summer use only.

I did my winter riding back when I was young and stupid. Now that I'm old and stupid I keep the bike under wraps during the winter. I use the time to carry out servicing ready to go in the spring.

I must say that when The Missenden Flyer posted a vid on YouTube of a November bike tour round gran canaria it did look very pleasant indeed. If I had the shekels I would have a go at that.
Old enough to know better, but still too young to care.

A ferry ride to Spain and then onwards South will generally find clement weather in earlier Winter. The fly in the ointment being the ride to and from the ferry port in November, this side of the channel.

I keep my bike on the road, and although I won't use it if the weather is bad, as long as it's dry i try and get the occasional ride in. Just requires a bit more cleaning when they've gritted the roads!

Some days, you get up and have to face facts.

Not today!

Yesterdays weather was rather good for the time of year, so couldn't resist a little ride out!

I still go for rides with my Silver Wing in winter.

Only the other week I put it in the back of the van and did about 60 miles.

Of course, it's not as easy parking the van in ASDA as the scooter, but my little Wing enjoyed the ride in the back  :)

Certainly wet and wild at times last night. However I did see 13C outside air temperature on the display of the ST1300 Pan. That's crazy for night time in November.
