Anybody up for a ride out?

« on: July 12, 2016, 04:39:30 PM »
I live in Chorley, moved here just over a year ago. Would be interested in joining others for rides out. I've not had my license long so still learning but should be able to keep up.

Readers may find the post somewhat vague. Try adding a when and possibly an indication of where.
There are a few of us who seize midweek opportunities and visit the greener parts of this and adjoining counties. Now firmly in the summer months perhaps evenings midweek would gain some availability.
I am available Wednesday and Thursday evenings this week, but restricted by work commitments throughout the weekend.
Because of locality, members will have good local knowledge of biking roads. My area of speciality is east Lancs and Yorkshire dales. I know some cracking routes,  mainly avoiding A class roads and towns. Some of these "off piste" routes are particularly suited to the Explorer type bike. George.

Sorry George, it is a vague post.

At the moment I'm free most days as I'm doing up a house and can juggle my time. And I'd love to hear suggestions.
When is your next free Wednesday night George?

Edit: Having one of those days. Just re-read your post. Would you be interested in playing the lead tomorrow night?

Cheers,
John

Worry not I have one of those days, most days. Tomorrow evening might prove a good idea. Weather looks good, and it may take my mind off my duties the following day.
Anyone free from about 4pm? Meet at the car park of THE Myerscough Hotel. That's on the A59 directly opposite BAE Salmesbury. BB2 7LE.

I can be there any time. So if any others are free, I can work around what ever times suits.

Unfortunately being a Monday to Friday wage slave for the retired fraternity on here  :D also known by their other name The Last of the summer wine midweek crew  :-* I can only get out at weekends, usually on a Sunday. Being a little further south than you, I am in Leigh Vegas the town that never sleeps. We/I usually sneak over the border into that foreign land of the dragon called Wales, you are welcome to come on the ride outs anytime you like when we go that is  :o  ::) Great place for the Triumph to roam free.  :)

Heyup, I've just come through Chorley this evening... got meself some of that Frederick's Ice Cream - bloody delicious stuff.

Anyway, I might just dust off (not really - a layer of dirt makes it more hardcore) the KLV1000 and meet up with you folks.

By the way, it's Knott end bike night on Wednesdays - if anyone's interested (I'm easy either way)... or maybe a route that takes it in??

Used to launch my RIB off Knott end slip. Would love to go back up there on the bike.
My mum and dad retired and live on a boat in Fleetwood dock so used to sail over there first before going across to Peel island.
Not been to Frederick's yet. On my to do list.
I'm open to any ideas for tomorrow night.

Lancashire looks fine. The rain located further north. We'd be unlucky to encounter more than a few drops. Friday however is a totally different proposition.

We could go to Knott End, the only downside being the mind numbingly boring routes to the venue. I think I'll opt for heading east first, parallel to the A59, over the tops to Whalley then sweep back across through Chipping vale to the A6 and through St Michael towards Knott End. I could call at Accrington on my return route and collect the liveried good bike for my duty tomorrow.

The rains bouncing off the flags here. But it looks to be clearing up and I've spent a fortune on waterproof gear so like to test it out as much as possible.

Again, I'm happy to go where ever, and which ever way.

This is a good app on android. Gives satellite images of where the rain is.

Ok, weather looks reasonable, so I'll be there at 4.00pm. I'll be on my black and orange KLV1000.
